Review: Lunch at Mud Dock, Bristol

August 7, 2017

It was our second Wriggle deal lunch of the week and this time we found ourselves at Mud Dock. This bicycle themed restaurant is spacious, trendy and has a lovely terrace overlooking the harbourside. Unfortunately it was raining but we managed to bag a table by their iconic circular window. See if you can spot street artist Stewy's artwork of Brunel on a Brompton on your way out.

We had a limited but fantastic choice of lunches under this deal. I ordered the Moroccan Spiced Chicken Schwarmer, fresh salad and flat bread, and my boyfriend ordered the Mexican Spicy Bean Burger with salad and chips. Our food arrived in good time and service came with a smile.

The Schwarma was heaven on a plate with it's sweet and spicy Moroccan flavours. The chicken was tender and pulled apart beautifully. The  salad  gave the dish a crunchy texture and I particularly loved the red cabbage. All this piled on top of a traditional flatbread and a dollop of sour cream on top. What more could you want? I would definitely order this again and even pay the usual price of £7.50.

My boyfriend's verdict on his Bean Burger was pretty good too. The burger itself was full of flavour and kept its shape after each mouthful - there's nothing more frustrating than a bean burger that just falls apart as you eat it. The bun was nice but not  as good as sourdough, but the lime yogurt and spicy guacamole was a bit hit.  The chips were fine but not tripple cooked. It was good value at £5.00 with this deal but he's not convinced he would pay the usual price of £10.25 for it again - but then he is more of a beef burger man afterall.

All in all, we enjoyed our lunch and we'll definitely be back for more.
