Turmeric Tea to nurse you back to health

October 11, 2017

Anyone suffering from a cold right now? Well this is the drink for you. It's an ayrevedic concoction made with lemon, honey, black pepper and our beloved tumeric. I've also add apple cider cinegar and cinnamon for added goodness and flavour. It's quite a potent drink so if it's too strong for you then reduce the quantities a little. What you have to remember is the good it's doing you!

Turmeric is a spice that contains curcumin, which has an anti-inflammatory affect on the body and helps to improve liver, brain and digestive health, joint health like arthritis and lowers your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Cinnamon is an antiseptic, and a virus and bacteria-fighting spice. It helps aid recovery from cold, flu, headaches and sore throats. It too has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body so it's the perfect partner to turmeric. And just so happens to taste delicious.

Apple Cider Vinegar is a superfood and helps lower cholesterol and reduces your risk of heart disease. It's worth shelling out for a good quality apple cider vinegar that is raw, unfiltered and with the Mother. It's the sediment that contains all the good stuff.

Don't be put off by the black pepper - in all honesty you dont really taste it. Black pepper, believe it or not, is another anti-inflammatory super food and an essential ingredient in this magical drink. When consumed with tumeric something magical happens - the potency of the Tumeric multiplies along with its anti-inflammatory properties. So whenever you cook with tumeric be sure to always add black pepper and you can't go wrong.

Those of you with colds and sniffles I wish you well and my gift to you is this magical drink. Get well soon x

1tsp of ground turmeric

1 tsp of ground cinnamon
